RUNNING WITH THE STREET LIGHTS

Huomatkaa Marimekon kauppa!! Viime viikon perjantaina oli herätys neljältä aamulla ja viideltä oli lähtö kohti Sydneyä. Meitä lähti siis pieni porukka oppilaita Sydneyyn, koska siellä oli National Young Leaders Day. Tuolla tapahtumassa oli erinnäisiä puhujia, mm. kirjailija, bloggari ja sotilas. Ne kerto omasta elämästään ja omista kokemuksistaan miten ne on päässy tähän pisteeseen missä ne nyt on. Siellä oli muutama hyvä puhuja ja muutama vähän huonompi. Oppilaita siellä oli yli kaks tuhatta joten oli hauska nähdä muiden koulupukuja. Meillä oli päivän aikana kaks taukoa ja tilaisuus loppu puol kolmen maissa.

Me jäätiin Maddin (host sisko) kanssa Sydneyyn kun muut lähti takasin Blayneyyn. Meillä oli hotelli keskustassa tosi hyvällä paikalla ja toi meijän hotelli oli tosi siisti. Mulla ja Madilla oli oma huone ja lopulla perheellä oli oma huone, joka oli kiva yksityisyyden kannalta. Perjantai-iltana me mentiin kattomaan musikaali Grease, joka oli ihan törkeen hyvä! Lauantaina me herättiin ysin maissa, jonka jälkeen lähettiin käppäilemään Darling Harbourin pitkin. Päädyttiin yhteen ravintolaan lounaalle jossa mä soin kreikkalaisen annoksen. Rakastan Kreikkaa. Se on muuten hassua kun menee ulkomaille ja sä saat sen fiiliksen että "ah mä oon ulkomailla, ihanaa, kaikki on niin uutta ja vierasta ja tä koko maa jopa tuoksuu erilaiselta". Mulla ei oo ollu tota fiilistä kertaakaan täällä paitsi nyt tona viikonloppuna. Jotenkin tuntuu että tä on mun koti eikä vieras maa. Kai se johtuu siitä että mulla on mun arkielämä täällä. Anyway, lounaan jälkeen päädyttiin sit shoppailemaan, mutta mun osalta aika huonoin tuloksin. Jotenkin mä en vaan loytänyt mitään ostettavaa ja jos löysin niin hinta tuli vastaan. Sydneyssä on ihania kauppoja ja mm. Zarakin löytyy. Tosin mä päätin, että mä en aijo ostaa Zaran vaatteita Australiassa, haha. Lauantai-iltana meitä odotti Justin Bieberin keikka. Mä en mikään fani ole, mutta Brogz (host sisko) rakastaa Justin Bieberiä, joten sen takia mäkin päädyin tonne keikalle. Ihmisiä oli tosi paljon ja keikka oli ihan okei hyvä. Junat ja kadut oli pelkkää tungosta, koska Stereosonic festari ja toi Justinin keikka loppu samaan aikaan viereisillä paikoilla (hyvin järjestetty...), joten hotellille me päädyttiin vasta yhen maissa yöllä. Meillä oli Maddin kanssa syvälliset keskustelut aamu neljään asti haha. Sunnuntaina shoppailtiin lisää ja kahen maissa lähettiin ajamaan kotia kohti. Ilmat Sydneyssä tona viikonloppuna oli tosi surkeet. Meijän piti mennä sunnuntaina rannalle, mutta lämpötilat oli alhaalla ja aurinkoa ei näkyny, joten se suunnitelma jäi siihen. Mun viikonloppu oli huikee ja mä oon tosi kiitollinen mun host perheelle että ne anto mulle tälläsen mahtavan viikonlopun!

On Friday I woke up at four and at five a small group of students headed to Sydney. We were going to the National Young Leaders Day. There were a few good speakers and few not so good speakers. We had two breaks during the day and the day finished at about two o'clock. Over two thousand students were there and it was really nice to see different school uniforms. 

Maddi (my host sister) and I stayed in Sydney and the other students went back to Blayney. We had a nice hotel with a good location. Maddi and I had a own hotel room and the rest of the family had their own room, so it was nice. On Friday night we went to see the musical called Grease which was amazing! On Saturday we woke up at nine. We went for a walk to the Darling Harbour and we ate lunch there too. I ate a Greek dish which was really good. I love Greece. You know it's funny how you get that certain feeling when you are overseas, but I haven't had that feeling while I've been here except on that weekend. I think the reason is that I've got my everyday life, school and families here, so this feels like home and this country doesn't feel foreign. Anyway, after lunch we went shopping. I didn't find many things to buy and if I found something nice, it was too expensive. There are some really nice shops in Sydney, including Zara, but I don't want to buy European clothes in Australia, haha. Saturday night we went to the Justin Bieber concert. I'm not a fan of him, but Brogz (my host sister) loves Justin Bieber so we went with her. There were heaps of people and the concert was okay. There was a huge crowd in the streets and on the trains, because the concert and the Stereosonic festival finished at the same time and they were next to each others, good organising hey... It was one o'clock in the morning when we got back to the hotel. Maddi and I had DnM's until four o'clock in the morning, haha. On Sunday we did more shopping and at about two o'clock we headed back to Blayney. The weather on the weekend wasn't very good and we had actually planned to go to the beach on Sunday, but the temperature was low and the sun was hiding somewhere. However, my weekend was amazing and I'm so thankful that my host family took me there!
